Janelle Grum Family Crisis Center of East Texas is proud to present the 2025 Safer East Texas Training (SETT) on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center, located at 601 N. 2nd Street, Lufkin, TX. SETT is a premier regional conference aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of professionals who work to prevent and respond to violence, exploitation, and trauma in our communities. The event features a compelling slate of speakers who are nationally and internationally recognized in their respective fields.    Earn professional credits: 8 TCOLE Hours 7 Continuing Nursing Education Contact Hours (CA BRN Provider #17598) (Pending) 6.25 Continuing Legal Education Hours Continuing Social Work Education Hours (Pending)   This year’s SETT features powerful presentations from nationally recognized experts, including:  Jim Schmidt - Training Specialist / Advocate / Speaker "Unseen Advocates - the Paramedics Role in Domestic Violence"  Jenna Quinn - Advocate / Speaker / Author "What I Wish You Knew about Grooming: Advanced Dynamics in Sexual Grooming Behaviors"  Mark Wynn - Retired Law Enforcement / Advocate "Beyond the Obvious - Avoiding Dual Arrest, Dominant Aggressor Determination"  Jen Sparks - Retired FBI Special Agent & Profiler "Behavioral Analysis and Investigative Considerations in Cases of Child Torture"   Topics include trauma-informed domestic violence response for first responders; scene safety and strangulation awareness; behavioral analysis and investigative strategies in severe child abuse cases; dominant/primary aggressor determination and avoiding dual arrest through understanding power and control; and a survivor-led perspective on the impact of childhood sexual assault.
